What John Hughes Taught Us About Leadership

In addition to being a prolific writer and director of the 80’s and 90’s, John Hughes movies had element of leadership and vision that provided a relatability for his viewers to get lost in. Exploring some of his cult classics, like Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science and Ferris Buellers Day Off, we will explore the leadership elements of his characters, the strong theme of “pentimento” (the ability to re-see oneself again) and be reminded of how allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and take a chance, can change the course of your life.

Networking is a constant in our lives, but for many, it can be an exhausting and daunting process, including myself. The act of building my network was happening with no real goal in mind. I’d meet people and exchange information, but it never went anywhere. It wasn’t until I changed my approach from one of general networking, to network building.
